My love of health and well-being began after buying Arnold’s body building for Men as a teenager. A medical condition I had as a child had left me with very weak legs which would occasionally give out walking up stairs and causing me pain when I walked a distance.

Although I tried to get into training as a teen I was extremely skinny and I never got particuarly fit.
I went to University to study Medical Physics and got much more into sports with various clubs being available. Rowing appealed to me on a personal level and I got really into that as well as doing some martial arts. .
Subsequently I joined the Royal Airforce as an Intelligence Officer despite really wanting to be a Personal Trainer, the primary reason being it was considered virtually impossible to pass selection as a direct entrant so I didn’t expect to get a place – but I did and decided to go.
At the time I thought that the Air Force would be a better career but I quickly realized it wasn’t compatible with my personal morale and ethical values. Becoming a fully operation intelligence officer takes several years and I resigned (PVR) on the last day of my last qualification course to avoid return of service and left to raise the money to be a Personal Trainer.
I moved back to Newcastle where I had studied at University and joined John Lewis, to raise some funds to go self employed qualifying as a personal trainer in October 2006 at the age of 26, by which point I was living in Glasgow.
Wanting to be closer to my parents I moved back to York in 2012.
Over the years the experience I’ve gained working with clients has led me into a more holistic approach, making health and fitness more approachable and accessible for clients.
My issues with having a weak and unwilling body at times and working through that to become an fit and strong person has helped me greatly understand and have empathy the challenges that others face.
My primary aim is to make a positive diference helping others realize their goals.
With experience my focus has progressed to more complex clients needing a more diverse range of help.
In the last 5 years I have become a Yoga practioner & teacher – and enjoy doing some cycling and kettle-bell training too.
My primary belief is anyone can improve their fitness, and no-one is beyond help.
My Core principles are:
- To Conduct myself with Honesty and Sincerity
